Agreements have been signed with several publishers that will make their newspapers available Day-A in Portugal and/or London. With the Addition of Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, de Morgen, Politiken Polska, Racing Ahead Weekend and Los Angeles Times, the amount of foreign titles printed and made available Day-A in Portugal and Madeira has risen to 16.
Hours before sending this newsletter, the Corelio group from Belgium committed themselves to making Het Nieuwsblad and De Standaard available to PressTerra.
The addition of Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung to the newspapers printed in Portugal marks an important milestone. With some 1.5 million German visitors a year, it represents the second largest tourist group in Portugal.
Said Andreas Ferlings, manager Business Development of the WAZ Media Group: "PressTerra offered us the chance to be available in Portugal with very good conditions. Without having to be bothered about the logistics, we are now able to serve our readers with a Day-A edition at the same time it is available at home."
"Involving WAZ for Portugal was a logical step. Being second in circulation figures in Germany and a real family oriented publication, it will appeal to many German tourists", said Ralph Vooys, Vice President Operations of PressTerra.
To further serve the largest group of tourists in Portugal, the recently launched sports paper "Racing Ahead Weekend" is now available in Portugal. The weekly 48-page publication's main subject is horse racing.
The Los Angeles Times is the third main publication from the USA, next to The Washington Post and The Miami Herald now daily available in Portugal. The Los Angeles Times is also published in London.
Het Nieuwsblad and De Standaard from Belgium will be printed via the systems of PressTerra. The operation will start within the next few days. Het Nieuwsblad is the only Dutch-language newspaper from Belgium that publishes 7 days a week.
"It is a strategic choice to work with PressTerra. The simplicity of the system is what makes it most attractive. This is a trend of the future and for us it has begun today" said Koen Maes, Circulation Manager of Corelio.
With one more month to go, a solid estimate shows an increase of 520% of newspapers printed in 2007 through the services of PressTerra compared to 2006. We all at PressTerra would like to thank all Publishers and Distributors that have shown their confidence in our company as well as all fellow-Distripress members for their support and advice given during the congress in Vienna in September.
We wish everyone pleasant holidays and a prosperous and healthy 2008.
About PressTerra
PressTerra started its operations in July of last year after having identified the need for Publishers to print their newspapers in substantial quantities outside of their home market.
Our network of Offset and Digital printing companies, located around the world, are able to produce EXACT copies (meaning same format, color and paper quality). This network is growing steadily and provides Publishers with the possibility of being available Day A at many locations in the world. Utilizing these sites not only saves valuable time but often costs considerably less due to the elimination of traditional transportation costs.
Apart from Print houses, we also offer a network of Distributors to serve Publishers that would like to start distributing at a new location.
PressTerra has built an in-depth database that can provide Publishers with detailed demographics about Expatriate and Tourist markets around the world.
The process is very simple: Publishers make their content available to PressTerra, who in turn ensures that the right type of file is transmitted to the Print site and on time. After printing has completed, the newspapers are picked up or delivered to the Publisher’s preferred Distributor. If no Distributor is available yet for that market, PressTerra will bring the Publisher into contact with an established Distributor and upon request will negotiate on the Publisher’s behalf.
Whether you are a Publisher, Printer, Distributor or any other branche-related company, we would gladly discuss the options of cooperation with you. |
